VCA Animal Hospitals is a trade name of veterinary medicine company VCA, Inc. (Veterinary Centers of America), an operator of veterinary hospitals in the US and Canada. They operate more than 750 animal hospitals in the United States and Canada. The company is based in Los Angeles.
In July, 2009, VCA, Inc. purchased diagnostic imaging company Eklin Medical Systems, Inc., now known as Sound Technologies.
In 2014 VCA acquired the dog care center Camp Bow Wow which had 152 franchises.
On January 9, 2017, Mars Inc. announced their intention to purchase VCA for $9.1 billion, operating it as an independent unit within Mars Petcare. VCA CEO and Founder Bob Antin will remain in his position.
